If you are looking for a StatsBomb alternative, the reason is rarely the data. Event data of this class is what serious analysis runs on, and the buyers comparing vendors usually agree on that. The reason is the contract shape: enterprise event-data deals, in our research, start around $100K a year, with the terms, minimums, and sales process that come with that price band. That works for top-flight clubs and large media groups. It walls out everyone else.
Dribble exists in that gap. We source our data from Opta under licence (Terms, section 7) and package it as self-serve products priced from $19 to $499 a month: cancel anytime, Stripe checkout, no procurement process. The feed is different (Opta, not StatsBomb's own collection), so read the comparison on what each route actually gives you.
The Honest Comparison
| Enterprise event data (StatsBomb route) | Dribble | |
|---|---|---|
| Contract shape | Enterprise agreement, priced in our research from around $100K/yr | Self-serve subscription, $19 to $499/mo, cancel anytime |
| Event data | Event-level, club-grade collection | Opta event feed: 57M+ rows with XY coordinates and qualifiers |
| xG | Vendor's own shot models | Opta pre-shot xG (qualifier 321), one definition across all competitions |
| Competitions | Broad, per contract | 32 ingested daily; a further 2,172 in the Opta outlet on custom tiers |
| Access | Per agreement | REST API, BigQuery tables, CSV downloads |
| Commercial use | Per agreement | Stated per tier: commercial licences on API Elite and Flite, BigQuery Pro and Max |
| Refresh | Per agreement | Post-match: daily (API Elite, BigQuery Max) or weekly (BigQuery Pro) |
To be fair in both directions: if you are a top-flight club with an enterprise budget and a data department, an enterprise vendor may well be the right buy, and this page is not aimed at you. If you are a model shop, a media startup, an app team, or an independent analyst, the question is whether the data you can actually afford beats the data you cannot, and that is the comparison Dribble wins by existing.
What You Get
Event data with the qualifiers analysts use. Our BigQuery event tables carry 57M+ rows with Opta XY coordinates; the Max tier adds normalized Premier League qualifiers (corners, crosses, blocked shots, periods, pass end coordinates), named lineups and formations, and revision history. Coverage: 32 competitions ingested daily, archive depth of 6 completed seasons (2020/21 through 2025/26), 41,017 matches, 90,582 players, 8,054 teams.
Three access routes, one licence framework. API from $19/mo (Lite, personal and research) with commercial tiers at $49 (Elite) and $149/mo (Flite, white-label). BigQuery from $49/mo (Starter, personal and academic) with Pro at $149/mo and Max at $499/mo carrying the commercial licence for apps, dashboards, models, and published research. Downloads: the Legacy Archive at $49 one-time for six seasons of files that stay yours.
Extended coverage without a new contract. Competitions outside the daily 32 are delivered on custom one-time tiers (Downloads Premium $249, API Ultra $499, BigQuery Site $999, per competition per 10-season batch, in 1 to 3 days with a signed quote and contract).
What You Do Not Get
Dribble is post-match data, not a live feed. Post-shot xG is not yet live in our pipeline (pre-shot xG, qualifier 321, is what we carry today). Raw-data redistribution is not included on any plan by default and requires a separately signed order form and data-licence addendum (Terms, sections 6 and 8), the same constraint every licensed vendor imposes. And we are a small team selling data products, not an enterprise vendor with an account-management layer; for some buyers that is the point, for others it is a reason to pay the $100K.
Frequently Asked
What is a cheaper alternative to StatsBomb? Dribble: Opta-sourced event data (a different feed from StatsBomb's own collection) packaged from $19 to $499/mo, self-serve, instead of an enterprise contract priced in our research from around $100K/yr.
Is Dribble's data the same as StatsBomb's? No. Ours is sourced from Opta under licence; StatsBomb collects its own. Both are event-level feeds with XY coordinates and shot-quality data. Our xG is Opta's pre-shot model (qualifier 321).
Can I build a commercial product on Dribble data? Yes, on API Elite ($49/mo) and Flite ($149/mo) and on BigQuery Pro ($149/mo) and Max ($499/mo): apps, dashboards, models, and published research are permitted. Raw redistribution needs a signed addendum.
How much historical event data is included? Six completed seasons (2020/21 through 2025/26) across the archive, and 57M+ event rows in BigQuery covering 32 competitions from 2020 to the present. Custom tiers extend to 10-season batches per competition.
Can I evaluate it first? Yes: API trial keys are free for 3 days, sample CSVs with the full schema sit in the subscriber workspace, and free samples are published on Kaggle.
Event data at a builder's price. BigQuery Max is $499/mo with daily snapshots and normalized qualifiers; the API starts at $19/mo. See Plans and Pricing
